NDOT awarded $21.2M INFRA grant for I-80 project
January 2024: Rehabilitation of eastbound I-80 between Odessa and Kearney. More info available from USDOT.
NDOT receives $400K Wildlife Crossings grant
December 2023: Planning grant to complete a study, in partnership with NGPC, along US-71 south of Scottsbluff to identify potential solutions for reducing collisions with big game species, notably bighorn sheep. More info available from USDOT.
$1.64M in FY23 Safe Streets and Roads for All grants awarded to 6 Nebraska communities
December 2023: The communities of Alliance, Bennet, Columbus, Fremont, Gering and Scottsbluff received individual awards ranging from $100,000 to $400,000 to assist in the development of Safety Action Plans focused on preventing death and serious injury on or along roadways. City of Blair awarded $263K Rural and Tribal Assistance Pilot Program grant
November 2023: Planning grant awarded to assist with design Missouri River barge and rail expansion solutions. More info available from USDOT.
Omaha Tribe of Nebraska awarded $2M RAISE grant
June 2023: Planning grant to complete planning and design for fifteen transportation improvements focused on vehicle and pedestrian safety, ADA compliance, connectivity, water runoff, erosion mitigation, and economic and housing access. More info available from USDOT.
City of Omaha receives $2M RAISE grant
June 2023: Planning grant to complete a planning study for Ames Avenue, from 72nd ST to Florence BLVD, to identify multimodal safety improvements. More info available from USDOT.
MAPA named as Thriving Communities Program recipient
April 2023: USDOT will provide two years of no-cost intensive technical assistance to help identify, develop, and deliver transportation projects along the North Freeway in Omaha that have long been burdened by the impacts of transportation bisection, displacement, and redlining of disadvantaged communities. February 2023: The communities of Beatrice, Lincoln, Madison, Norfolk, North Platte, Sidney, Waverly, and the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA) received individual awards ranging from $200K to $750K to assist in the development of Safety Action Plans focused on preventing death and serious injury on or along roadways. City of Bellevue awarded $440K Bridge Investment Program grant to replace Fort Crook Road Bridge
October 2022: Planning grant to help determine the timeline, total costs, and related issues to replace parallel bridges built in 1956 and 1973. More info available from USDOT.
